Terms and conditions for the use of the Website


These terms should be read carefully. Access to this website is on the basis that you agree to these terms.
The website and these terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. We try to ensure that our website is available for access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However it may, on occasions be necessary to close or suspend provision of any of the services on the website for the purposes of repair, maintenance or development. Terms and conditions for the use of the UWL
ID card
Use of your card


The UWL ID Card is not covered by the Consumer Credit Act, 1974 and these terms do not entitle you to any purpose other than printing and operational functions within the University. (Library card, access, etc.).
You are solely responsible for the management of the credit balance on the card.


Loss, theft or misuse of your card


You must take all reasonable precautions to prevent loss, theft or misuse of your card.
You must never knowingly attempt to use your card in any device, which has not been approved for the purpose of the Scheme by any Scheme Participant.
If your card is lost, stolen or otherwise liable to be misused, you must inform the UWL ID Card Centre at the University as soon as possible.
If your card is lost, stolen or otherwise liable to be misused, you must co-operate and provide reasonable assistance to us, the University, Scheme participants, the Police and any other relevant persons.
Subject to these conditions of use and our procedures for the time being in force, if a card which is lost, stolen or otherwise liable to be misused, is sent to us, we will reimburse the rightful owner with the amount of any credit (£1 or above) on the card at that date by transfer to new card: We shall have no further obligation.
If your card is lost or stolen and not returned to the UWL ID Card Centre, the card is lost (in the same way as bank notes or phone card would be). There will be no credit refund.
Whenever you use your UWL ID Card you automatically confirm that you are the lawful user of the card acting in good faith. If such confirmation is untrue we shall be entitled to recover the amount of the relevant payment from you. In particular cases we may need time to satisfy ourselves as to the position. Accepting and redeeming credit is not necessarily an acknowledgment by us as to its rightful ownership.
Replacements for lost or stolen cards can be obtained from the UWL ID Card Centre on payment of a specific sum, which has been set by the UWL ID Card Centre.

Equipment


You must take reasonable care to prevent your card being damaged or tampered with.
The UWL ID Card Centre will replace cards that are faulty and transfer credit at no charge. (Subject to no physical damage). The card remains the property of the University.


Unforeseeable events (force-majeure)

We shall not be liable for any delay or non-performance of these conditions of use arising from any cause beyond our reasonable control, including, without limitation, any of the following: acts of God, government act, war, fire, flood, and telecommunication breakdown, loss of power, explosion, accident, civil commotion, industrial dispute or impossibility of obtaining materials.

Problems with cards or equipment

You must co-operate with the UWL ID Card Centre in order to resolve any problems.
If any problem cannot be resolved you can pursue the normal University complaints procedure.



Evidence


Except in the case of manifest error, we may rely on the data in your card and any other Equipment as conclusive evidence of the amount of cash credit on your card.
We may also rely on any data on the card as conclusive evidence of the matters recorded in them and that the transactions described by them actually occurred

Disclosure of information

We may share information about you and your use of the card with other sections of the university or/and appointed agents: to provide you with the service applied for; to help resolve a complaint, for analysis and/or Management Information; or for purposes of fraud prevention, audit or debt collection; other cardholders, but only where it is considered necessary for resolution of fraud or dispute.
As the card has separate functions which may be used by the University, some information on the card may be extracted by the University upon use of the card and used in accordance with the University’s own conditions of use. (i.e. Library and Access use).


Termination or suspension

Where it is considered that there are serious grounds for doing so the Scheme may be suspended or terminated at any time without prior notice.

Privacy Policy


We use Industry Standard efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of your information.
In certain cases you may be asked to provide certain information to third parties in order to use special Unique® benefits and discounts. Any information you provide to that third party is subject to that third party's privacy policy. By providing such information to that third party you will be agreeing to that party's privacy policy.
We reserve the right to share your details with a carefully selected list of businesses for the purpose of providing the cardholders special benefits and discounts.


Refund Policy

Where a £10 deposit has been paid in respect of the issue of a UWL ID Card, the cardholder is entitled to a refund of the deposit based on the following criteria:
Eligibility - a cardholder is eligible for a refund of the deposit paid upon the occurrence of the event set out in ai and aii ("relevant event"): always provided that the relevant procedures ("the procedures") governing refunds are followed:

ai: The card is in working condition and not damaged in any way, and

aii: The cessation of their studies at the University

In the event that the cardholder does not claim the refund within 3 months of the relevant event, then the deposit is forfeited.
Payment - refund will be made via bank transfer upon receipt of the card in accordance with the procedures. It is incumbent upon the cardholder to ensure that the correct bank details are supplied at the time of applying for the refund.

Refund Request - How to apply


To request for a refund, please download the REFUND REQUEST FORM, and complete the relevant parts in clear writing to avoid errors. This document is not available at any of the UWL ID Card locations.
The completed form can then be handed in or posted to the UWL ID Card office along with your UWL ID card.

UWL ID Card Staff will check if the card holder is eligible for the refund upon information given to us by the university. In the event where a our checks will show that the member is not eligible for the refund, UWL ID Card Team will write to the member with our reply.

UWL ID Card Staff will not be liable for any lost cards posted, or handed to any persons other than UWL ID Card staff, nor for any delays by any third parties such as banks and/or postal services.
